Forex Systems Review
About & methodology

How we pick, package and review free MT4 indicators

Forex Systems Review exists to do one boring thing well: give traders genuinely free MetaTrader indicators that are legal to redistribute, accurately documented, and honestly reviewed, without the pop-ups, fake win rates, and renamed files that define most “free indicator” sites.

Our sourcing & licence-verification method

We only publish indicators we can legally redistribute. In practice that means open-source software with a permissive licence. For every indicator on this site we:

  1. Start from a public source repository with a declared open-source licence.
  2. Read the actual LICENSE file and the source-code header to confirm the licence (we don't trust a label, we read the file). Every indicator currently published is Apache-2.0.
  3. Package the download with that original licence and a NOTICE crediting the original author.
  4. Record the full provenance, source URL, author, licence, file list, in our internal manifest.

We do not rehost decompiled .ex4 files, renamed clones, or paid “Market” products. If a file's licence is unclear, we link to the original instead of redistributing it.

How we select what to publish

We researched 75 license-clear candidates and scored each on three axes, genuine trader usefulness, code quality, and how well it rounds out the library, then published the 20 strongest. The rest are catalogued and added over time. We will never pad the list with redundant or dubious files to inflate a count.

Our review standard

Each review is written from the indicator's source code and real input parameters, not from a sales page. That's why every review includes a candid “where it falls short” section: if a tool lags, whipsaws in ranges, or redraws its last value, we say so. Because this is finance content (a topic where bad information is genuinely harmful), we hold ourselves to a simple rule: no profit promises, no performance claims, nothing dressed up as a sure thing. Indicators are tools that can be wrong; we describe what they do, not what they'll earn you.

Who writes this

Reviews are produced by the Forex Systems Review editorial team. You can reach us at adams@forexsystemsreview.com with corrections, licence questions, or takedown requests, we take provenance seriously and will act on any legitimate concern quickly.

How we stay free (and our conflicts of interest)

The indicators are free. The site is funded by affiliate commissions: if you open a broker account through a link here, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. We disclose this on every page that carries such a link, in line with the FTC's endorsement guidelines. Affiliate relationships never determine our reviews, the indicators are open-source and broker-agnostic, and we don't publish performance claims for anyone. See our Affiliate Disclosure and Risk Disclosure for the full position.

Risk note. Forex trading carries a substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for all investors. Past performance is not indicative of future results. Everything here is educational and is not financial advice.
